Warrandyte – an artist’s idyllic haven and much more
Warrandyte is renowned as a location that has been favoured by artists for many years. From the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries the Heidelberg School frequently visited the area. Today many artists are attracted to live in and visit Warrandyte and there are many successful arts studios, galleries and arts-based events operating within the area.
Warrandyte is also home to the closest State Park to Melbourne and is a haven for picnickers, bushwalkers, canoeists and people who simply enjoy the history and natural beauty of the area.
And in March each year, the Warrandyte Festival welcomes thousands of local families and visitors to experience the unique surroundings and village atmosphere. Festival-goers enjoy the duck race, billy cart derby, art and craft markets, great live music and fabulous festival fare. The kids are entertained all weekend while adults enjoy the swinging sounds of vibrant bands and catching up with friends. For more details visit www.warrandytefestival.org
