Beatrix’s qualifications include a Diploma of Arts Ceramics and further studies in Silversmithing, Colour and Design and Sculpture.
Her original studies included painting and wood work where she designed and created unique children’s toys from recycled wood, long before it became fashionable. After great success with designing toys she felt the urge to continue and expand her art knowledge and undertook a Diploma of Arts in Ceramics with encouragement from her short course sculpture teacher who felt she had talent in this area. Whilst studying ceramics she became excited by the jewellery studios in the neighboring building and eventually, after 10 years of working with ceramics, moved on to her longtime passion of jewellery-making in 2004. “Every day is an exciting inspirational adventure; creating things is like breathing for me, it just happens, I don’t have to think about it. A day doesn’t go by where I am not creating something; it’s so much a part of who I am. Making unique beautiful jewellery is one of those things that I will want to keep doing forever. I’d like to think some of my pieces will be passed on through the family and worn by generations to come”. Beatrix creates eclectic timeless pieces of jewellery which range from classic to an adventurous contemporary style, sourcing unique semi-precious stones and unusual silver beads which she sometimes alters to suit her artistic endeavor in her jewellery. Taking into consideration environmental issues, Beatrix creates her special pieces using recycled silver wherever possible in all her work. When not making jewellery she also works on her second artistic passion of Mixed Media Art. |
