‘Sculpting clay brings the challenges of planning, creating and decorating. I love to come up with new ideas. In decorating, I can often incorporate illustration and design using clay slips, glazes and underglazes. There is always excitement opening the kiln upon completion of a project. For reference and inspiration I am drawn to our fragile natural world with its rich beauty and detail. Textile is a secondary medium in which I work. Using a variety of fabrics I can indulge a love of design, colour and texture. The recycling of special fabrics is a delight.’ Robyn’s ceramic work is of a sculptural nature using stoneware raku clays and decorated with dry glazes, slips and underglaze painting. Her hand built pieces can live inside or outside the home in a garden setting. They include wall plaques, mobiles, planters, bird baths, garden sculpture and functional ware. She also creates varied textile work using felt and wool, cotton, silk, and Japanese Kimono fabric to produce fashion accessories and homewares. |
